About the Journal

The Journal of Individual Psychology has, for more than five decades, been the scientific expression of the Italian Society of Individual Psychology. The Society, in acronym S.I.P.I., was founded to promote the dissemination of the Theory and consequent Clinical Practice developed from the conceptual lines formulated by Alfred Adler, a leading figure in the psychoanalytic movement of the early decades of the 1900s.
S.I.P.I.'s scientific output is substantial: it has published just under a hundred issues of the Journal. The first issue dates to March 1973. The body of published articles, in addition to tracing the scientific history of the Society, signals developments in knowledge of the theoretical principles and operational practice of Individual Psychology. The intellectual liveliness of the articulators, almost all Members of the Society, ranges from theoretical insights to the treatment of different psychopathological frameworks, from issues of the training of mental health workers, analysts and psychotherapists, to the declination of theory in different artistic forms.
The cultural heritage of the Review has also been enriched by other publications: special issues have proposed studies on topics of relevant scientific interest and the 15 Notebooks have collected contributions from Conferences and Congresses promoted by the Society over the years.
The Journal has a precise format: an editorial, signed by the Editor, introduces the contents of the issue. Several articles are then presented, previously evaluated and approved by the Referees.
Case-studies, describe therapeutic courses conducted according to Adlerian principles and methodology. An art and culture section highlights the connections between Adlerian principles and artistic works, and finally, reviews of recently published volumes of clinical interest close the set of contributions.
The correct scientific approach of the Journal obtained indexing by the National Research Council in 2008. The ISSN (International Standard Serial Number) code has enabled the Journal to be registered in the ISSN International Archive, based in Paris and searchable online.
Browsing the articles allows searching by Author and/or by words in the title and by keywords allowing researchers access to a rich source of information on Individual Psychology.
