The individual system and the family system

The interaction between two lifestyles—individual and family—is analyzed from a theoretical and practical point of view, considering both the individual and the family as two systems. The starting point of the treatment process is represented by a stalemate where the symptom, crystallized, seeks to maintain its homeostasis, both in the individual and in the family. The goal of the process is therefore change, understood as a crisis, a transition from elementary organizational levels to gradually more complex ones. If social integration from an Adlerian point of view represents the highest expression of good functioning, it is necessary to observe how the individual's symptom is intertwined with family functioning, thus considering any changes in the relationship with the family as a test of the restructuring that has taken place in the individual
