Abstract

Psychotherapy for adolescents requires greater involvement on the part of the psychotherapist, who becomes a role model, either alternative or substitute for the parents. In fact, the therapist plays a transformative role in both the emotional and cognitive spheres of the patient. Three clinical cases of female adolescents who practice dance are presented: unlike other artistic activities, dance cannot, except in very rare cases, be learned for the purpose of a future profession or hobby and may sometimes take on the meaning of behavior adopted as a fictitious goal. In the cases presented, the therapist not only provides support for a new and more valid self-identification, but also aims to provide new lines of realization at the cognitive level. In general, a correct pedagogical approach to adolescents should discourage unambiguous and rigid choices
