Abstract

This paper presents research on Adler's thinking as discussed in the philosophy textbooks most commonly used in high schools. A reading of six of these texts reveals that all the authors mention the “will to power” but make almost no reference to social sentiment, one of the two fundamental principles on which Individual Psychology is based and which, among other things, gives psychotherapy an ethical purpose. The risk of spreading knowledge of different theoretical positions is that it may be too partial and prone to easy misunderstanding, depriving young people of accurate information and, in this case, also of a positive educational message
