Abstract

The text analyzes the concept of “social feeling” in Adler's Individual Psychology, highlighting its crucial role in human development and socialization. Contrary to the Freudian view, society is not seen as a screen for drives but as a natural environment in which human activities are carried out with purposeful goals. Social feeling is considered both innate and acquired, developed through interaction with the family, school, and social environment. Particular attention is paid to the importance of childhood and adolescence in the consolidation of this sentiment, with reference to the psychophysical transformations that influence identity and interpersonal relationships. The relationship between social sentiment, courage, and nervous temperament is also emphasized, with a parallel between neurosis and a lack of social sentiment. The text presents the Rorschach Ranking Test (R.R.T.) as a tool for assessing neuroticism and social conformity, illustrating its applications on different groups of subjects and highlighting the influence of educational level and cultural variables. It concludes by emphasizing the importance of a cross-cultural approach in understanding psychopathology and the educational relevance of promoting the development of social feeling
