Abstract

The case of a 9-year-old boy with severe visual impairment due to dislocation of both lenses is presented. Special attention from family members, teachers, and coaches has always allowed him to compensate perfectly for his impairment. When the lens dislocation is finally corrected, the boy becomes discouraged because he feels inadequate for the tasks he now has to face. The report makes no mention of psychotherapy or a planned strategy for it
