ANALYSIS AS FICTION AND ANALYSIS OF FICTIONS: MYTH, DREAMS, FABLES
Keywords:
fiction, impotence, ominipotenceAbstract
The concept of fiction and it's interaction with the concept of truth is one of the oldest themes in philosophic history. Already denigrated and excluded by Plato, considered to be a vehicle of illusion and false knowledge, the concept of fiction has been “rediscovered” in modern philosophical, psychological and scientific epistemology, starting with Nietzsche, as with Vaihinger and Adler, up until most recent cybernetic developments. In psychotherapy we intend this concept in two ways: as an analyst’s reflection on his counter-transference and his position in the field of reality description (always a description with self-referential validity), and as an attempt to redirect the patient’s ‘‘fictions’’ (always psychological defenses) towards more dynamic and creative forms
