The brief review of the Adlerian manual demonstrates how Musil's encounter with Individual Psychology was not limited to his analytic therapy, which also changed his life and ended his creative block, but also consisted of a prolonged study and a profound reflection that has enriched his original and independent system of thought that was formed in the context of the Mach’s logical positivism of the "Wiener Kreis" and the Gestalt. Combining Mach’s functionality with the ordering power of Adler's finalism, Musil realizes that psychic events can concretize the research and testing of a new morality that opens the doors of society to individuals who, with an individual psychological treatment, have reclaimed their destiny. The writing of Musil testifies in which cultural milieu the revolutionary contribution of the Adlerian theories has intervened, moreover offering for them a new fruitful reading key, as the Adlerian reading key, revealing their fictions, allows for to bring out from the depths of the unconscious and from the swamps of neurosis also the "quality" of the characters of Musil's masterpiece so that, despite the incompleteness of the work, they can be proposed for their goals and destiny
