Abstract

Sexual efficiency has become a central theme in the debate on relational and individual issues, frequently confused with deeper psychological disorders. This reductive approach has had significant consequences for gender roles and therapist-patient relationships. The pursuit of this efficiency, for both men and women, often takes the form of a compensatory device to feel and cope with a sense of inferiority. It is crucial, therefore, not only to pursue sexual efficiency, but also to understand the context and meaning of the demands associated with it, avoiding reducing these issues to mere performance
