Abstract

The group psychotherapy approach in a community for adolescents with psychotic disorders and severe neuroses represents an attempt to address difficulties related to the emotional development phase typical of adolescence. During this phase, young people may experience identity crises, emotional instability, and relationship difficulties that are exacerbated in the presence of pathological disorders. The “Casa del Ragazzo” in S. Maurizio di Conzano is a therapeutic setting in which group psychotherapy has been tried as a means of facilitating communication and interaction among participants. The intervention focused on creative techniques, such as comic book analysis, to stimulate expression and reduce emotional defenses. The experience has shown that, despite the communication challenges between individuals with psychotic and neurotic disorders, it is possible to create an atmosphere conducive to socialization and communication, helping to change lifestyles and improve the psychological well-being of adolescents
