Adlerian counselling for alcoholics

Abstract

When dealing with alcoholism, it is necessary to maintain a multidisciplinary and flexible approach depending on the issues that arise with each patient. The article discusses various forms of alcoholism, generally supported by an inferiority complex and promoted by particular goals that are pursued through compensatory mechanisms. It can be hypothesized here that Adlerian counseling may be effective especially in those forms of reactive alcoholism, in a process of awareness as well as encouragement
