Individual psychology and the elderly

Unfortunately, the psychology of the elderly is still greatly underestimated by various approaches, especially with regard to interventions. In individual psychology, however, the elderly deserve clinical attention, and a whole series of techniques have been developed that can be implemented provided that intellectual faculties and mental readiness to understand the analytical process are not compromised. Adler believed that the elderly should not be excluded from society but helped to reposition themselves within their vital tasks. However, analytical therapy with elderly subjects certainly requires more time and effort from both participants in the therapeutic relationship than with younger subjects. Group therapy or counseling interventions in particular seem to have good efficacy data
