Paradox and double bind
Keywords:

This contribution explores the concept of paradox and double bind in psychotherapy, comparing Pragmatics of Human Communication and Individual Psychology. It analyzes how paradoxical communication, if constant and structured, can generate blocks and pathologies, but also how, in the therapeutic context, it can be transformed into opportunities for insight and change. Particular emphasis is given to the role of paradoxical transference and countertransference, which risk leading to a therapeutic relationship with negative implications. Individual Psychology, through the unmasking of pretences and attention to social feelings, can integrate and expand on the contributions of the Palo Alto school, with the interesting goal of reorienting lifestyle and overcoming pathological communication dynamics
