Observations on narcissism
Keywords:
narcissism, clinical case, social sentiment, compensation, feelings of inferiority, desire for powerAbstract
The following work addresses the issue of narcissism, warning against relying on complicated speculative-philosophical constructs in dealing with the subject, relying instead on the presentation of clinical cases, which are useful in bringing out the emotional involvement of the speaker and listener, and critical verification.
In all narcissistic styles, there is a dissociation of the stages of maturation, with the persistence of archaic, absolute, and therefore fictitious security goals that hinder the emergence of social feelings. The therapeutic process, which sees the analyst and patients as allies, therefore aims to promote a healthy testing of the patient, in search of valid and positive compensations within a lifestyle oriented towards social feeling
