Abstract

Hypnosis can be used as an analgesic, to neutralize psychosomatic disorders, but also as a tool for approaching unconscious conflicts related to past traumatic events, current conflicts, or to clarify the ultimate meaning of a symptom in patients with low intellectual/cultural background. The age regression achievable with hypnoanalysis allows the reconstruction of the lifestyle of crucial periods of life that, in the waking state, may have been mentioned only in passing or completely overlooked. Hypnosis, which should always be proposed and never imposed, is never detached from the interpersonal psychotherapeutic relationship
