Abstract

With regard to male-female relationships, the relevance of Alfred Adler's thinking is examined. Identifying the origin of cultural prejudice against women in society, he recognized the socially imposed limits on the personal development of women, historically relegated to the role of wife and mother, which led to a feeling of inferiority that could cause them to compensate through masculine forms of protest. Individual Psychology, looking at the interaction between man and society and not exclusively at intrapsychic mechanisms, differs from the Freudian model and is less related to the times in which it was proposed, but more contemporary and dynamically updatable as society evolves
