Abstract

The article explores the role of the Adlerian analyst in encouraging patients through communication. It highlights the importance of focusing on the patient and the relationship within the analytical setting as a tool for learning and growth for both parties. The communication skills used by the Adlerian analyst are an act of cooperation in their work to understand and help others understand, valuing authentic communication, which does not mean spontaneous or immediate, and which integrates verbal and nonverbal signals. Encouragement requires relational harmony, comparable to a harmonious dance, which promotes a sense of belonging and stimulates the patient to explore themselves more deeply. Techniques such as rephrasing, eye contact, and baby talk encourage dialogue, using simple words and evocative images to translate emotions and ideas. The goal is to create an environment of trust and cooperation in which the patient feels understood, supported, and free to develop their creative and social potential
