Abstract

“Masculinity” is expressed not just in verbal but also in analogic communication, because communication is life. The individual builds his reality and communicates with this through his own personal life style.
Language as an expression of the current culture, but also of a sedimentation of previous epochs is sexual just like speech (i.e. Latin languages) in the fundamental rules and in the gender of the words and lexical heritage. Feminism has introduced an insecurity in the masculine world that is countered with a reinforcement of the ancient virile culture or resorting to fictions of ambivalence.
The term “masculinity”, in inverted commas, is used here and in the other articles to translate the Italian word “maschilità”, proposed in the original for a symmetry that is already inherent in the English “masculinity”, but absent in correspondent Italian word (see also the summary of the next article)
