Abstract

First a short summary is given of the different conceptions and diagnostic criteria of borderline-distur- bances in adults, and these concepts are then applied to mental peculiarities in children and adolescents. The characteristic symptoms in children and adolescents are discussed with reference to in- vestigations by Asperger, Wing and Wolff. Several case histories are designed to illustrate the psy- chodynamics of borderline-disturbances as seen by Individual Psychology. This is followed by re- flexions regarding the theraupetic approach, which are above all concerned with improving the sen- se of reality and strengthening social and emotional contacts
