Abstract

Adler's preface, then, which we offer to our readers, is of peculiar interest, not only for dealing with the psychology of neuroses, but also for the utterances that form the basis on which the doctrine of Individual Psychology will later be implanted: the holistic image of man, understood as a “microcosm, a symbol of totality”; the finalism and legitimate affiliation of the current with depth psychologies, both expressed by the principle of an “unconscious goal”; the basic concepts of “inferiority” and “life project”; the idea of “compensation”; the importance of the environment and culture in which each individual is embedded
