LIFE-STYLE: NEW EPISTEMOLOGICAL PROSPECTS

Abstract

Life-style is one of the fundamental Adlerian concepts, which has been deeply examined in a number of studies and research projects. New epistemological concepts currently appear to open further prospects of investigation.
The Theory of Auto-poietic Systems, for example, sets criteria such as “auto-referencing”, which appear quite stimulating for further and deep studies of the concept of life-style, as they appear to explain in founded epistemological terms both how a sense of personal identity is structured and the possibilities and difficulties of subsequent changes. In addition, the theory of Auto-poietic Systems offers very interesting arguments in reference to the concept of fiction in the Adlerian sense. This message wants to raise the problem and to debate these concepts in order to bring forth useful elements to further the Adlerian concept of life-style, which in many senses even appears to anticipate these new epistemological prospects
