Abstract

Some issues about iatrogeny and malpractice in psychotherapy are examined. Their importance has grown in recent the years for several reasons including patients suffering from seribus psychiatric disorders; the link with other clinical approaches (psychopharmacological, psychological and the rehabilitative); the increasing number of psychological techniques and settings, which may not be supported by evidence or may be clearly incongruent to psychopathological disorders (e.g. psychotherapycult). It is necessary to halt psychotherapy malpractice trough adequate prevention and continuous supervision. Such problems deal with the relation between iatrogenic symptoms and the ethics of professional deontology and liability
