Abstract

Only two years after his final "heretical" departure from Freud and deterministic doctrine, Alfred Adler declares in his exposition, surely more out of deference to the host and other psychoanalysts present than out of personal conviction, the primacy of drive life in understanding the natural, social and economic process.
It is very interesting to dwell on how the concept of aggression, which enables drive life to tend toward satisfaction, is presented by analyzing the etymology of the term used: "aggressionumweg," the "long road" [umweg] of "aggression" [Aggression]
