Abstract

In the medical, psychiatric and psychological practice, the diagnosis of dementia, especially in premature stages, is not rarely problematic. The diagnostic trial for dementia can be complicated by sights of pseudodementia; a lot of signs and symptoms are found both in depression and in dementia: so it’s difficult to define what of these signs are demonstrations of the one or the other pathology. In psychodinamic approach, during the process of progressive loss of the structure in dementia there experiences of loss: depressive affections, delirium, abnormal behaviors and archaic behaviors observed in the demented patients purchase a meaning of defense, of struggle for the survival.
According to the hypothesis of demential compromise the breakup of psyco-behavioral functions in the dement patient is based on a peculiar specificity, in which pathogenic causes and their reactions, especially psychobiological reactions, interlace in a characteristic way.The model of reference for a general approach to the terminal dement patient relates to the biopsycosocial model, to the paradigm of communication: this model articulates pharmacological, psychotherapeutic and rehabilitative interventions, in correspondence to multifactorial pathogenesis of dementia . The strategies of encouragement, related to the Adlerian Individual Psychology, represent a way to manage therapeutic relationship. It’s necessary the courage to devote constant appointment and investments towards the search, in biological clinical and social-welfare fields related to dementia
