“An Adlerian study of experiences relating to socio-sexual identity in a group of female subjects undergoing the Rorschach test”
Keywords:
rorschach, emotional distance, self-confidenceAbstract
Starting from an analysis of the responses to the Rorschach test, analyzing them and following some variables that are important for functioning according to the individual psychological view, a study is carried out on women's experiences of their socio-sexual role.
The feelings of inferiority found in the women examined are linked both to subjective factors and to the uncertainty of contemporary socio-cultural models, which have led to the abandonment of the traditional roles of previous generations. This lack of clarity about what it means to be a woman today compromises the need for emotional contact and generates a certain emotional immaturity. This results in impulsive expressions of desire and a need to hide one's true self, creating emotional distance. Conflict regarding self-confidence and social role fuels dissatisfaction and ambivalence, making personal and social fulfillment a difficult and uncomfortable goal
